You’re Not Paul!
Dr. Randy White

And the evil spirit answered and said to them, ‘I recognize Jesus, and I know about Paul, but who are you?’” (Acts 19:15)

Paul had a fantastic ministry in Ephesus.  Beginning with a small group of 12 confused converts from John the Baptist’s ministry, Paul explained that Jesus had ascended, the Holy Spirit had descended, and a new age had begun.  The Spirit’s work was strong in Ephesus, with these newly enlightened disciples speaking in tongues and prophesying.  Paul himself was performing amazing miracles, even so that his handkerchief carried the Apostolic healing power and it was sent to those who were sick and miracles of healing were taking place.

Power of any kind—including Spiritual power—attracts the power-hungry.  In this case, the sons of Sceva began to attempt the miracles of Paul.  The demon called the ruse, however, when he said, “I recognize Jesus, and I know about Paul, but who are you?”

This should teach us an important lesson: there are no modern day Apostles.  Many claim to have the Apostolic gifts of prophecy or miraculous works, but the demons say, “who are you!”  Beware of the one who today claims to have a miraculous handkerchief!

In His Grace,

Dr. Randy White
