Facing the Truth: You Can Do It!

Today's Scripture

“Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” - (Joshua 1:8-9 NLT)

Thoughts for Today

You’ve chosen to face the truth. You’ve admitted you are doing wrong. You’ve looked at your reflection in God’s Word and want to make the changes you see are needed.

You can change! You can do it. But . . . don’t try to do it alone.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the LORD and turn away from evil. (Proverbs 3:5-7 NLT)

Consider this . . .

Admit you can’t win this victory on your own. Humble yourself before God and ask for help.

So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come close to God, and God will come close to you. (James 4:7-8 NLT)

Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you.

So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. (Galatians 5:16 NLT)

Keep using God’s Word as a mirror—and act on what you see.

Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119:105 NLT)

Put your hope in God and his Word. You can count on him!

I am counting on the LORD; yes, I am counting on him. I have put my hope in his word. (Psalm 130:5 NLT)

Prayer

Father, I’m ready to make these changes but I know I cannot do it alone. Give me understanding. Show me what you want me to do step-by-step. May your Holy Spirit guide me and your Word light my path. I know I can count on you—and you alone. In Jesus’ name . . .
