Consistent Provision

Today's Scripture
After all, children don't provide for their parents. Rather, parents provide for their children. 2 Corinthians 12:14 NLT

Thoughts for Today
Our heavenly Father provides for us and protects us. He wants us to do the same for our children.

We should protect them from harm and provide healthy food to eat, shelter, clothes to wear and all of their physical needs.

We should provide for them emotionally, consistently demonstrating our love to them.

And we should provide for them spiritually, teaching them God's ways and that he has a plan for their life. One of the most important things we can do for our children is to pray for them daily, prayerfully committing their training, their physical and emotional well-being, their entire life into God's care. And they need to know that praying for them is a high priority in our life.

Although it's easy to be distracted by the busy-ness of everyday living, we need to be consistently aware of our children's needs and trust God to help us respond to them wisely.

Consider this…
Godly parenting is an awesome responsibility, but remember—you don't have to face the challenge alone. No matter what the situation, God is with you. He will guide you and help you—and together you can do it!

Prayer
Father, I thank you for my children. They are indeed a great blessing from you. Help me to be a good provider—physically, emotionally and spiritually. In Jesus' name ...

Godly Parenting by N. Elizabeth Holland, M.D. addresses parenting skills from the time of conception until the child has reached adulthood. It suggests methods for raising healthy, godly children in an increasingly secular society. Specific emphasis is placed on communication and teaching skills, discipline, protection and sexual issues at each age.

As with all Living Free small group curriculums, Godly Parenting can be used as an evangelistic tool by inviting unchurched people in the community to these helpful sessions and using the opportunity to build relationships and demonstrate the love of Christ, opening the door for them to be drawn to Him.
