While teaching a group of CEOs I mentioned how even “white lies” can undermine your credibility. After I shared an example I could see guilt on one leader’s face.
He shared with the group that just the day before someone called for him as he was planning on leaving the office. Knowing that the caller would call his cell, he told his receptionist, “Tell him I’m not here.”
He knew his intentions, but he suddenly realized that those in his office who overheard his directive would have assumed he was lying intentionally. “I guess I should have been more careful,” he shared with the group.
Psalm 120:2 proclaims, “Save me, O Lord, from lying lips and from deceitful tongues.”
May God save us all from “white lies”.
