Graciousness in Birmingham
by Rick Boxx
March 19, 2010

Traveling to Birmingham with Charles Briscoe was a lesson in graciousness. Charles, a prominent African American pastor in his mid 70s, is considered by many to be the City Father of Kansas City. His gracious spirit, and the respect he has earned, has helped ease racial tensions in our community.

Watching him in action, I now understand why. Pastor Briscoe, with his warm smile, constantly engaged others of all races in conversation. Many times he offered assistance and words of blessing to perfect strangers. His graciousness left many smiles in his wake.

Proverbs 16:24 teaches, "Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body."

The workplace can be harsh at times. Are you known for your graciousness, or your harshness?
