The First to Sacrifice

Have you ever asked a subordinate to do what you say, not what you do? If so, you know it usually doesn’t go well.
In the book of Nehemiah, after they rebuilt the wall around Jerusalem, the leaders knew the city needed to be inhabited. These leaders could have demanded the people to move into the city while the leaders remained in the suburbs, but they didn’t.
In Nehemiah 11 we read, “Now the leaders of the people settled in Jerusalem, and the rest of the people cast lots to bring one out of every ten to live in Jerusalem, the holy city, while the remaining nine were to stay in their own towns.”
If you want your plans implemented, you may need to be the first to make sacrifices.
