Too Many Friends

Two weeks at a banking school was a long time to be away from spouses. A large group of us from the Midwest began hanging around together. At times it seemed safer to have lots of people around, but looking back I wonder if that was true.
One of the married guys began spending more time with a female banker who was also married. It finally became open and obvious they were having an affair. No one said to our companion what we were all thinking; he was messing up his marriage and his life.
Proverbs 18:24 warns us, "A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother."
Sometimes one good friend can be more valuable than lots of companions.
