Bring on the Power!
This devotional was written by Robin Dugall

Your unfailing love, O Lord, is as vast as the heavens; your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds. Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the ocean depths. —Psalm 36:5-6 (NLT)

I love loud music. In fact, the louder, the better. In any and all debates about “plugged or unplugged” music, my choice is clear: pump up the watts…stand back and feel the power! Oh, how I love it!

The Bible says that our God is a God of power. Our God is One Who, with a word, brought life into existence. Our God arranged the planets like it was child’s play. God’s character and nature are beyond description. Even the psalmist, who wonderfully describes the presence and power of God, can only give us a snapshot that tells part of the story of the greatness of God.

For many of us on the journey of faith, we’ve often wondered about what God is really up to. There is a part of us that feels a bit threatened by all the talk of personal transformation and newness of life that accompanies an authentic walk with Christ. Many of us would much rather follow a God who is nice, safe or only as life changing as we find convenient. The truth is, we like the life we currently have. Even so, let God give you a dose of reality. As the Apostle Paul wrote, “He (God) who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it.” (Phil. 1:6) God will not stop until He has brought about complete dedication to Himself.

God is looking to release His power on those who really want to experience Him. We’re not talking about any type of power; we are talking about life changing, universe shaping power. When placed before a God like that, I say, “Bring on the Power!” Stand back and watch what God can do!

GOING DEEPER:

1. How have you experienced God’s power? When you think of it, what comes to your mind?

2. If God could do anything in your life right now, what would you want Him to do? If God could do anything in your life, what would HE want to do in you?
