Let God Use You
This devotional was written by Robin Dugall

I beg you brothers and sisters give your bodies to God. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice – the kind He will accept. When you think of what He has done for you, is this too much to ask? —Romans 12:1 (NLT)

My wife owns something very special and precious: a complete set of china that was handed down from her Scottish grandmother to her mother, then to her. She takes very good care of every piece because, in her heart, it is a priceless treasure. The china is so precious that it’s rarely used! That’s right...we have this incredible set of china and we rarely, if ever, take it out of its protective shelter. Obviously cherishing something that has been passed down to her, my wife is afraid of something disastrous happening to the china. So, she keeps the china locked in a safe place. Yet, I have to admit, I wonder sometimes, why not use it? Wasn’t that the reason why the china was made and wouldn’t it give us great joy to see it serving the family? It’s not of any use to anyone when it stays in the cupboard all wrapped up.

When I think of my wife’s precious china, I think of you! That’s right... you! You are precious to God! In fact, in Ephesians 3:20, Paul said that “you are God’s masterpiece.” God has made you in a very special way for a very special purpose. Yes, it is wonderful to stand back and behold how precious you are. Even so, something so special will not be all that God made it to be unless God USES it! In fact, being used by God to make a difference in this world for Jesus is the reason God made you and me in the first place. We were created with a God-given design and a God-honoring purpose. From your very first breath, God had a plan to use you in a way that can uniquely and specially touch another person’s life.

Today, ask yourself, Am I letting God use my life? Commit to being “used” by God.  If you are feeling a tug at your heart, join the adventure of a lifetime! Be used by Jesus! You’ll never live to regret it for a moment!

GOING DEEPER:

1. What gifts has God given you? When was the last time you felt the thrill of being used by of God?

2. What is keeping you from committing all of yourself to the Lord? In your life, what would it look like if you were to be a living sacrifice to God?
