Who You Know
This devotional was written by Kelly McFadden

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”  Galatians 2:20

MySpace is a popular website allowing users to experience a community online.  About 25 million people from all over the world log on and share stories, pictures and interesting facts about themselves with the cyber world.   You can find vacation pictures, graduation news, music, hobbies, classifieds and more.  Each person carefully crafts a personal page showcasing himself or herself to other users.  These pages represent what each person is known for, or perhaps more accurately, what he or she wants to be known for.  In essence, these pages are a “best of” about each user.

Each one of us lives a life in which we want to be known for certain things.  Maybe you want to be known as a good mother or father, a good spouse, a hard worker, a good athlete, a faithful volunteer or a prayer warrior.  All these things, in and of themselves, are not bad.  The problem comes when we start caring about what we are known for more than we care about who we know.

Knowing Jesus Christ and following Him is far more important that any reputation you may be seeking to create.  Paul understood this better than anyone.  He was highly educated, a bright and trusted Pharisee.  He was feared by Christians and assaulted them zealously.  And then he met Jesus.  He left his entire world, his respected position, his authority, his power, all for the sake of who he knew:  Jesus.

What about you?  Where is your focus in life?  Do you care more about what people think about you or about nurturing, seeking and growing your relationship with your Maker?
