Sharing the News

We will celebrate our church anniversary this Sunday. We founded our church on a vision to reach unsaved, unchurched people. That vision comes straight from the Heart of God. II Corinthians 5:18-19 says, “God has done it all. He sent Christ to make peace between Himself and us. And He has given us the work of making peace between Himself and others. What we mean is that God as in Christ offering peace and forgiveness to the people of this world. And He has given us the work of sharing His message about peace.”

God has given us the work of sharing His message. We are to share the good news. God has called us to do it. Let’s just look again at what the Bible says: God’s done it all. Christ has made peace between Himself and us. And He’s given us the work of sharing about the peace that comes only through a relationship with God. Why is there a need for peace? God is perfect; we are not. There is no peace between humanity and God until Jesus comes into the world.

Jesus then takes care of the problem by offering forgiveness to the people of this world. Jesus came, died on the cross for all the sins of humanity and rose from the dead proving his victory over sin and death. When we accept Jesus we are forgiven. God doesn’t see our imperfection instead He sees Jesus in us and His perfection and we’re now at peace with God. This is the good news.

This message needs to be shared. It’s not enough for us to just have it for ourselves. We have to share it with other people. They must know a person can have a spiritual life. They can be born again, born spiritually. The spiritual life and connecting with God makes your life completely different. If you only live in the material world, you miss it. You completely miss what life is all about. It’s not just about the physical, it’s not just about the material, it is about the spiritual.

And there are other issues that need clarity. People Hear stuff when they are growing up. They form ideas in their minds—God is angry, God is grumpy, God is mean. But God is not any of those things. God is love. All love begins with God. The central message of Christianity is love God and love others. How do we clear up all these misunderstandings? People have to be told. We need to share the good news. God has given us the work of sharing his message about peace, peace between God and humanity, peace between God and individuals. Let’s do the work.
