Entrée:
I remember after my last child moved out and the first empty nester Christmas came. I felt lonesome, where was the joy without at least one child who still delighted in Christmas morning?
This is but a small glimpse of how our Father must have felt when He sent part of Himself to walk among us for a while. All the more when He had to turn His face away from His Beloved Son as He hung on a cross and took on all the ugliness of our sins.
Even though we always celebrate Christmas with Jesus as the focus, as this reality became real to me in my small way, I realized I had not truly embraced the sacrifice and the great gift the miracle of Christmas is.
Mary’s first Christmas was spent in a stable and a little over 33 years later it was spent with the memory of the agony of seeing her Son on the cross. So much has been sacrificed for me and for you…
The disciples spent every remembrance of His birth proclaiming salvation to all who would listen, knowing that at any moment they could breathe their last because of their testimony. So much has been given for me and for you…
Around the world to venture to tell the story of this great gift is met with ostracism at best, at worst with loss of life. Will we brave enough where we are to tell the story?
In the days we have leading up to Christmas this year, let’s show the world how great is the Father’s Love for those who love His Son...
So great that He would precisely fill every prophecy, leaving no room for doubt.
So great that the sacrifice made was perfect, so there could be atonement for all.
So great that we can open anew the greatest Gift every Christmas morning we are privileged to spend on this earth and sing our praises to the King of Kings.
Merry Christmas and all glory and praise to our Emmanuel, to our Wonderful Counselor, to our Mighty God, to our Everlasting Father, to our Prince of Peace!

Oh Father, thank You, thank You for the gift of Your Son. Everything about the miracle of Christmas is new to us every year as we recount what lengths You would go to in order that we could live with You forever. Help us move beyond decorations and gifts into the Light that truly makes Christmas glow. In Jesus' Most Precious Name, Amen.
