Day 197

MAN OF SORROWS

He was despised and rejected by men,

a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering.

Isaiah 53:3

FROM THE FATHER'S HEART
My child, I do understand your pain. I could remove it all and never let you suffer in this life. How could you help someone mend a broken heart if yours has never shattered? How could you understand the fresh tears from a graveside if you never buried a loved one? How could you comfort a hopeless life when you've never descended into a tunnel of despair? I am the man of sorrows, and because I've been there—with more pain than you'll ever know—I truly understand. Run to Me, Child. Let Me wipe away your tears and hold you until the hurt is gone.

A GRATEFUL RESPONSE
Compared to You, Lord, what do I know of pain and suffering? You are the man of sorrows, and suffering is no stranger to You. Even Your closest friends left You in Your greatest moment of need. You chose to be a victim, so I didn't have to stay one. Thank You, Lord.

SIMPLE TRUTH

Sorrow stretches the heart so God can refill it with His joy.
