Get Under It
Sunday, February 07, 2010
We all want to call our own shots and run the show. As a result, it's often a struggle to put ourselves under the authority of others. But how we respond to authority reveals a lot about who we are and who we will become. In "Get Under It," Ed Young helps us see how the authority figures in our lives are there to mold and shape us into the people God has called us to be.

We run away from authority because we don’t like other people having power over us, we don’t like to be dominated. But in this message, Ed Young shows us that authority is not about domination, but protection. And only by living under authority can we learn to lead others effectively and discover God’s best for our lives.
Series: Authority Issues
Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with Me.
The familiar biblical phrase, "And they shall become one flesh," speaks of the simplicity of God's plan for marriage. Pastor Ed Young relates Picasso's well-known painting, The Lovers, with God's basic biblical formula for a matrimonial masterpiece of love and commitment.
Self portrait
Have you ever felt like just a face in the crowd? In this special Easter message, based on Rembrandt's self-portrait, The Raising of the Cross, you'll discover how God has communicated what He thinks about each one of us through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Responding to answered prayer
Learn the how to's of talking with God. In this series, you will walk through the process of prayer in this biblical guide to communicating with God.
If you had one prayer request to make and you knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that God would grant that request the moment you prayed it, what prayer would you pray at this very moment? Some would pray, "Rebuild my marriage." Others would pray, "Give me direction." Still others would say to God, "Bring back my wayward son or my wayward daughter." Ed shows us how to respond to answered prayer.

Pride is one of the most sinister forces we can face. It can take hold of our lives, lead us down a dangerous path and entangle us in a snare of lies and deception. And in the life of Absalom, David's son, pride ultimately led to his destruction. But there's a way to avoid that fate in our own lives. And as Ed Young shows us in this message, if we can keep our ego in check we will avoid the trap. Instead, we'll continue heading down the path God has for us. And we'll experience the most out of life.
Oh my Lord what shall we do?
The servant stood on the wall and surveyed the landscape. Everywhere he turned, the enemy was bearing down. In his eyes, defeat was imminent. How often do we find ourselves in that situation? When we take a panoramic view of our surroundings, we assume the only thing that awaits us is destruction. Yet, when we send the same message of Elisha's servant, God will give us the clarity and vision to see his strength. And he will help us overcome any situation we face.
