Snow Days

By Rick Boxx

February 21, 2011

With over a foot of snow dumped on our community, the normal fast pace came to a halt. Somehow the things scheduled were easily put off to another day. The urgent didn't turn out to be as urgent as I thought.

In Job 37:5-7 Elihu marvels at God's way and says, "God's voice thunders in marvelous ways; he does great things beyond our understanding. He says to the snow, ‘Fall on the earth,' and to the rain shower, ‘Be a mighty downpour.' So that all men he has made may know his work, he stops every man from his labor."

The next time I get snowed in, rather than stewing about work left undone, I plan on stopping my work, thanking God for the break, and marveling at God's goodness.
