To our faithful readers,
We’ve been introduced to Moses, one of the most profound men in the Bible, yet he felt unqualified for his job. But, God was still able to accomplish miracles through him. So don’t under-estimate the power of God to also work through you.
This week’s readings have one miracle after another, from plagues on unbelieving Egyptians to safe passage for believing Israelistes crossing through the Red Sea, and then the Ten Commandments written in stone by the very finger of God. There’s so much history that, at times, it can seem overwhelming.
But, hang in there, you’ll see later how much of it foreshadows Jesus Christ and His ministry. The first Passover, whereby the Israelites were saved by applying the blood of an innocent lamb to their doorposts fore-shadowed us applying the blood of Jesus, the Lamb of God who taketh away the sins of the world (John 1:29) to our hearts when we accept Him as our Lord and Savior.
Follow along as God sets standards for His chosen people – standards that are still applicable today. Two things never change – the nature of God and the nature of man. So note how God dealt with the Israelites when they believed Him -– and when they didn’t! We can certainly learn from the mistakes of others.
You’re not going to want to miss a single detail of the epic adventure of God’s people. I don’t know about you but, even though I’ve been a Christian many years and read the bible through, I still learn something new in each day’s reading. Come, join me, and let’s learn together what God wants to say to us today.
In Christ, Pastor Rick
